Loft Conversion in Ripponden, Sowerby Bridge

These pictures show a stunning and stylish loft conversion that exceeded all expectations about what was possible.

A growing family spurred the need for change to this three bedroom Victorian semi detached house in the village of Ripponden, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.

We discussed design ideas and options for a contemporary master bedroom and the resulting room amazed and delighted the client by its space, look and feel and usability.

The loft bedroom was created in six weeks and came in on budget at £26000. The design was within 2008 Permitted Development Rights and required no Planning Permission and this minimised delays.

Modernisation

The bedroom has many impressive and modern features built into the structure, for example, by concealing the pipe work required for the raised bath, the en suite and the heating radiator we maintained clear walls, the same applies to the cables for power, light and TV signal which are designed into the lofts structure. Space saving features such as the stairs and sanitary ware are designed and selected to intrude as little as possible into the actual room area.

Master En Suite Features

• A fabulous addition to the master bedroom is the sunken ellipse bath
  • the bath sits within the existing outrigger gable roof
  • professional tiling gives a modern and clean look to the raised area
  • contemporary luxury fittings in chrome and shower head to the bath which sparkle in the light
  • skylights and an extractor fan positioned above the bath provide ventilation when required and natural light. Velux blinds are fitted to control inward light and for privacy
• Modern electrical fixtures and fittings are conveniently positioned for ease of use. Power sockets are plentiful and to supplement the skylights dimmable down lights illuminate every corner of the room. Wall mounted reading lights behind the bed are controlled by the flick of a switch.
• A bank of six modular Velux skylights form an impressive and eye catching window to the world, blending both form and function to great effect they allow in daylight, ventilation and restrict light when the integrated blinds are drawn. A pair of skylights opposite the main bank provides a generous amount of natural light into the room when the sun is on the other side roof.
• A convenient en suite with contemporary space-saving semi-pedestal sink and toilet is installed at an end of the bedroom. The private, fully tiled area has a heated chrome towel rail, dressing gown hook, independent light and ventilation. These touches ensure users experience convenient, private luxury whenever in the room.
• Hardwood oak flooring is laid throughout onto a noise insulation layer for the comfort of the lower bedroom occupants.
