Loft before and after conversion

Loft conversion - before

The loft space of this older home (turn of the century terrace house) was too low to comply with building regulations. Houses of this age often have very high ceilings and that can provide the extra height require in the loft. The ceiling was lowered in every room below the loft to create an extra one and a half feet vertically.

As the house was an end terrace a window was installed to the outside wall to allow a view from the desk. Down lighters were also used in order to direct light to the desk without too much glare.

Loft conversion to a home office - after

The original beams that support the roof structure have been kept in place and provide a nice original feature. Power sockets were fitted to the customers' requirements in order to run an array of electrical office equipment such as PC, printer, scanner, modem, fax and photocopier.

Working from home

Working from home is becoming increasingly popular but can lead to a merging of work and home life. A loft conversion is an ideal way of keeping a home office separate from the rest of the house due to its physical location. It is therefore an excellent way of achieving a good work life balance.
