Loft Conversion Survey

When planning to convert or extend your loft our architectural surveyor will visit you to quickly determine the feasibility and potential of your roof space. Your loft height must be approximately 2.4m or 8ft. If your attic is a little less then your specific circumstances will need to be evaluated and it may be possible to lower the ceiling height of the first floor rooms in order to create more height.

Design of Loft Conversions

Our surveyor will also listen to your design ideas and suggestions and incorporate them into the proposed designs and plans. We do not work to a prescribed format and will work with you at all stages.

Loft Planning Permission

Loft and roof conversions need building plans and building regulation approval. Occasionally planning permission is required especially if your house is in a conservation area or for dormer extensions. We can arrange for professional building plans to be drawn up and all other planning and regulation work that is required.

Loft Flooring

Lofts generally require floors that are strengthened structurally to make them load bearing. High quality timber and flooring timbers are used in all floors and staircases.

Roof Truss Replacements

Wooden or timber roof trusses are the structural members, often arranged in a triangular and framework which supports and stiffens the roof. Conversion requires truss replacement by steel roof beams to support the roof in their absence.

Internal Loft Work

Great care is taken to ensure that all internal work on flooring, walls, roof windows, roof insulation, plastering, electrical, plumbing, lighting, decoration, heating and central heating work is carried out to the highest building standards and to your satisfaction.

Duration

Converting a loft or attic usually requires about 4 weeks building work, depending on the complexity of the building work required. Our builders ensure minimal disruption and inconvenience.
